Murder or Mercy?
We've discussed Euthanasia at length in class, so I won't rehash much of it here, but I do think it is a fairly diverse and interesting topic.
I'm still baffled by the fact that killing yourself is ok, ordering DNR is fine, but asking someone to do it for you is not.
When is euthanasia ok? When is it not?
Also, have you guys seen this?
Would be a pretty cool way to go.

I think euthanasia is perfectly acceptable if the patient can decide for his or herself, but there is definitely a grey area if the patient is unable to decide. Therefore, I think in the case of a child that is disabled and can't legally decide for his or herself, then it is the parents choice.
ReplyDeleteBecause let's be honest, euthanasia is not about the patient, it's about the feelings of those that will still be alive when the decision is made.
Euthanasia/abortion, we often think about it in terms of patients, but what about the ones administering the procedure? The doctors! Are all doctors for euthanasia? Certainly not, just like the general populace, doctors are divided on the issue as well.

Believes that palliative care should be given instead of euthanasia...but then comes the question of cost and to a somewhat lesser extent, the feelings of those still living.
